HOW TO PREPARE YOURSELF TO FILL IN THE MANAGEMENT SELF-ASSESSMENT
WHO?
The person to fill in the Management Self-Assessment should fulfill the following requirements:
- Be familiar with the situation in your factory in general.
- Be familiar with the situation in your factory in regards to the issue treated by the Management Self-Assessment.
- Be part of the higher management of the factory.
- To have the right to give out the accurate information on the situation in the factory.
WHAT?
The Management Self-Assessment covers the following categories in regards to the priority issue treated.
- Policy
- Procedure
- Training
- Implementation
- Communication
- Documentation
- Workers integration
Depending on which priority issue is handled in a particular Management Self-Assessment; additional more specialized categories are added. For example in the Management Self-Assessment on Grievance Procedure there are a few questions that refer to the quality of the personnel receiving grievances. In the Management Self-Assessment on hours of work a set of questions refers to your factory’s productivity assessment. Being familiar with the issues you should have no problems answering these questions.
The Management Self-Assessment also includes several questions on your personal opinion on these issues.
Each Management Self-Assessment ends with a group of question that refers to your factory’s general situation.
To answer these questions you should have the relevant documents and information handy. Issues raised in this last part of the Management Self-Assessment include:
- Number of workers in your factory, % of female workers, % of migrant workers
- Production system
- Turnover rates, reasons for leaving the factory
- Normal working hours, number of shifts etc.
- Certificates
- Number of audits etc.
Once you have the information on these issues filling in the Management Self-Assessment should not take much longer than an hour. You can also look at the Management Self-Assessment by scrolling through the questions, take notes on those questions where you feel you need to prepare yourself, and click on the return button on your internet browser. You can then return later and actually answer the questions. Once you have answered all the questions click on ‘submit’ at the very end of the questionnaire.
